Tempoform - how it works

The Tempoform process The Tempoform® process is suitable for making extremely fast and low volume prototypes in aluminium, magnesium and zinc. Quantities typically ranging from 1-5 pieces.

Why Tempoform?

  • Prototypes can be manufactured within only 8-12 working days.
  • Parts can be designed without draft angels and without a mould split.
  • Part sizes ranging from app. 10x10x10mm to app. 340X340X600mm.

Tempoform – The principle

By using 3D computer technology a 3D file is converted into two negative moulds. By assembling the moulds a cavity which corresponds to the 3D part is created. The two 3D computer designed moulds are physically produced on a special 3D printer system. The two moulds are assembled and liquid aluminium, magnesium or zinc is poured into the cavity.

Tooling

No tooling is required. For each part a new set of moulds must be produced on the 3D printer system. For this reason the process is very cheap for producing low quantities but expensive talking about larger quantities.

Design rules

No special design rules should be taken into consideration.
